Remco Evenepoel (Deceuninck - Quick-Step) had a phenomenal first year as professional in 2019, taking five individual victories and making podium on several other occasions.
However, despite a solid start to the season, it wasn’t until Hammer Limburg in June that the young Belgian really showed the world what he’s capable of on the big scene.
In the opening Hammer Climb discipline, Evenepoel rode seasoned pros and some of the best riders in the world out of his wheel as he took off and went solo in the final 30 km. Below are his thoughts on the impressive performance.
